It's well known that TORn is a pro-PJ-leaning forum but they handed down punishments to pro-PJ people who were egregious assholes when I posted regularly there. Granted, you could probably get away with more if you were arguing from a pro-movies position, but they're not trying to eliminate everyone who is critical of the movies.

Its funny then that the most vociferous anti PJ people are banned on flimsy excuses, they are expert at condescending PMs where they try to rile you up into betraying your temper, I only fell for it because I couldnt be bothered to continue on the forum.

A lot of people think the TORn mods have a pro-PJ bias and are unfair to people who criticize the movies, and based on my experience I have to say there's probably some truth to those complaints. That said, there are a lot of cool people on TORn and plenty of interesting discussions, although as the highest-profile Tolkien forum TORn also attracts a disproportionate share of kids and casual fans who sometimes overwhelm discussions.

I was only in TORn for a little while (like five posts, for Merp) and the people who responded were quite nice.
Never actually discussed the movie at all over there though. Or anything else really.
