I would make fun of Lance's Southern Jessie accent, but not as much as I would take the piss of Pettys Haggis Honking accent.

Anachronistic, peculiar, affinity.

I'm from ChicAHgo, I've got a little accent, but not huge. What bugs me is when people pronounce crayon as Cray-on or Bag as Bae-g.

Just to elaborate on this, the "a" sound in quack vs. quark (in American English, at least) are very different. The former rhymes with flat, while the latter rhymes with dark.

Fun fact: when you look into the way the language was spoken on both sides of the pond in the pre-revolution days, modern American accents (the generic sort, not any regional variations) are actually closer to the historical form of the language than modern British ones (again, the generic accent).

Our accents are all over the place here. I was telling someone off for pronouncing my name wrong. Being a southern softie (as Figgy rightly points out) the 'a' in my name is said the same as you would day chARm not the way you would say hAm.

But that is a dirty northerner for you.

Also... I would say quark the same way they say it in Star Trek.

I was only discussing how to pronounce norc. Shrugging

And saying how the english pronounce it
http://translate.google.no/#en/no/norc
would be simlar to how they pronounce quark.
http://translate.google.no/#en/no/quorc
As opposed to the Americans.
http://translate.google.no/#en/no/quark

I know how you would pronounce it in Norwegian. Wink

Well, if I didn't before you telling me on the last page can't have hurt.  Razz

Though I did.  Wink

It's norc/nork (/nårk/) as in ork (/årk/)

And anyway. It can't be norcing if norc is my favourite word, can it?

Oh, I'm partly teasing you. I find the idea that someone would react with suspicion to being called great slightly amusing.

Not that I don't like you a lot, but I do know saying some of these things are over the top you know.

Don't you like the kakapo? It's very temporary I assure you.  Laughing

I quite like the word replevin.

In the concrete sense it's a rather boring form of legal recovery. Seen more abstract it's been used to refer to a written piece that has the goal of reestablishing the reputation of something that's had it's merits questioned or been soundly denounced.
