Bad things happen to good people. A friend told me that the other day while I was talking about all the surgery's I had on my knee last year. I say it's because good people have good, strong hearts, and they can take it with a grace and dignity that other's can't. But that still doesn't justify it by any means. My deepest sympathies GB

I'm very sorry to hear about that; thanks for letting us know, Orwell. I'll be sure to send GB an e-mail. It really sucks that he has to deal with this on top of everything else, and I offer my sincerest condolences to GB and his family. I miss him, but there are far more important things than this forum, and family is one of those. I hope he's okay himself.

There are times when this universe seems to lack any splendour, any wonder or any good. I cannot put into my words the depth of my sympathy- just a terrible thing to have occurred.
But 'time and the hour run through the darkest of days', and although Time does not heal all, somethings hurt forever, it does eventually become something which can be borne, so grieve as you have to GB, rage as you have to - you have a right to do so.
All I have to offer are condolences and words GB- which whilst sincere will offer no comfort I am sure, but you have them anyway. I am so sorry this has happened.

I have had correspondence with GB, folks. He is pulling things together slowly, and tells me he has started having a few battles on some other forums; indeed, has had a recent Moral Victory over some pointy headed Professor who he revealed to be a Right Winger pretending to be a Progressive. Good old GB, 
He hopes to come back soon. I especially hope he brings plenty of fire and brimstone to pour over you Petty. Gawd, you deserve it. You know full well that you haven't had a truly decent brawl with anyone since GB left!'

That's great news from GB! I heard from him a few weeks ago and it sounded like he'd be gone a long time so it's really, really good to hear that things are coming back together for him. 
Here's hoping he makes it back to us sooner rather than later!

I am devestated for you, and I know my tears for you won't help a bit, I know because this year i lost the very last of my family and nothing anyone said meant a thing for months and months. I thought I should never smile again, never feel anything other than total grief and hopelessness. But I am beginning to live once more and you will as well. You will. And those that love you , like my chilldren for me, will make you smile and laugh once more. And the people here that love you dearly will always, I am positive from their posts, have open arms and hearts for you. And my hand is extended as well.
