There is something special about collaborations when the end result ends up larger than the individual parts.

I think that's a good example of that. Nod

Nice list, Amarië. Nod

I kind of agree with Norc on Marit Larsen though. She does write some very good songs. I remeber I really liked If a song can get me you when it came out, and there's a couple of good ones on the first album as well. But I kind of got the feeling with the third album that I was being sold the same thing for the third time.

Artists that don't develop or change are kind of boring.  Shrugging

Have we also accidentally stumbled over the reason you don't like people calling you cute here, by the way Norc?

if you're saying she writes good songs and that her first two albums were, you don't kind of agree with me. don't put words in my mouth. I absolutely loath her music. it's awful and childish.

and no. that's not the fucking reason.

Those were words in my mouth, and I "kind of" agree with you.

"Very good" was a stretch too far perhpaps. I think she has written some decent songs. Though I see what you mean about the cuteness thing, I kind of agree.

So I kind of agree with your criticism, I would just maybe not be as harsh.

I can't recall if I have listened to a whole album of hers, I might have skimmed through them on YT or spotify maybe? You have done a far bigger effort than I have. It is the whole package of being able to play, sing, write and perform live that I had in mind.

Not a bad idea, Ringo. Nod  You certainly have a way of expressing how you feel about something.

Though I might have been a little wary of bumping into certain artists on the street.  Laughing

I haven't listened to any of her albums by the way, if it came across as I had. And I never said they were good either. I would actually be surprised if I've heard more than four songs of hers.

Anyway, to puit it quite simply.

I used to agree a bit with Amarië. My opinion changed, I agree more with you, Norc, now. Though as I said, I would maybe not be as harsh. I still think she has some qualities as a songwriter seperated from everything else.

That might not have come arcross in what I wrote however.  Laughing

yeah, seems so Wink though i am not saying she's awful, i just wouldn't put her in the 'great' category.
and no, i have far too little knowledge of different artists and bands to be a music journalist, i just know what i like and what i don't like.

Anneli Drecker is another great singer. i would perhaps even go as far as say she has one of the best voices in norway.

Then again, maybe it's for the best. As Frank Zappa said of music journalism, it's people who can't write, interviewing people who can't talk, for people who can't read.

Who the hell are you all talking about?  Doesn't anyone listen to Waylon Jennings anymore?  I thought all NABs sat around listening to Enya, drinking tea and philosophizing on Dr. Who.

I always thought Freddie Mercury had a great voice, and I like Queen. When I was in school, a foreign exchange student from Denmark stated that all of Europe hated the Scorpions because it is the only band the Germans talk about.  Is that true?

Have you fjordlandians heard of Sepiamusic from Denmark?  I do not know much about them, but I graduated with the lead singer.  She released an earlier album under a different name but I don't know what it was.  Anyway, long live Johnny Cash!

Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson (both their individual work and their Highwaymen albums) and Bob Dylan were probably the only artists I listened to when I was 15-16 years old, and I've been listening a lot to their music since as well, though in periods. I even went to concerts with the 3 latter - sadly Jennings and Cash died before I was old enough to appreciate them.

Perfect Very Happy

I could go on and on I guess, but this page wouldn't load if I did that.

I think since I was about 16 my favourite artist has been Warren Zevon, though I've mentioned that about a hundred times on here already Wink He would've been 67 a few days ago, so here's one for Warren anyway!

nope, never heard of that Shrugging i have heard of Johnny Cash and Freddie Mercury.

who in particularly are u addressing when u ask who the hell we're talking about? i was referring to this singer. Their former manager Per Eirik Johansen died recently and this was part of the memorial thing (after the church ceremony). i think there was 700 hundred people present, he was a great guy. died way too soon. i think all of music-norway was present at the funeral.
