Don't remind me. Sad You have no idea how much it bugs me seeing Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Bhutan, Laos, and Cambodia still sitting there grey in the middle of Asia, though. At least we just recently got Paraguay so the only remaining country we don't have on the continent of the Americas is Belize, squeezed onto the coast next to Guatemala. Razz

IP addresses (which aren't full proof) are visible through the mod/admin tools. I always hooked the site up to Google Analytics which collects data from over the years and arranges it for easy viewing and sorting.

Why do I get this image of a twitching cadaver spread across the table with wires and tubes connected to it?

I think the answer to Figgy's question is, if something is set up to capture that information, it can. Most of the places don't put in the effort, because what are you gonna do with the information and where will you store it? I'd think if they do capture it, they tabulate it immediately (how many from here or there) and the personal information is lost. Otherwise too much data to hang on to.

Some websites have a function where if you copy and paste text from their site it will add a postscript saying "read more at..." and then the URL.  It's done with a bit of javascript.
