Rolf Harris has been arrested by police investigating historic sex abuse allegations following the Jimmy Savile scandal.
Harris was originally interviewed under caution by Scotland Yard officers on Operation Yewtree last November, five days after they visited his home in Berkshire when he was not there. The Met said in an earlier statement: "The man from Berkshire was interviewed under caution on suspicion of sexual offences after attending south London police premises by appointment. Technically none of it has been proved yet, as none of it has got to court yet.

This is why I think the UK sex offense laws are wrong- I just dont understand why the accused name is made public- I think it should be kept from pubillication until the law has found them guilty- then name them, not before. Mud sticks even when its not deserved and charges like these can ruin a person, their health too, even when they are eventually exonerated.

Always. In UK law only a male can be charged with rape for example- and they are named from the outset publicly.
The accuser is not, and often her name is even protected after the trial even if she was found to be falsely accusing.

I have never understood it. They claim it somehow would effect people coming forward to make claims if the accused was not named- but I dont see how myself.

Yep, the French have it right: for sex crimes the accused is kept secret until proved guilty. I think it should go for all crimes, but that may not be manageable.
