Greatest Creative Influences

I was pondering what my Greatest Creative Influences were. (Don't ask me why I was pondering that - I don't know why! )

And then I thought, I also wonder what other Forumshirer's influences are? (Not that I'm interested at all, but I wanted to be polite. )

Anyway, here are some of mine:

(1) The Works of JJR Tolkien (especially The Hobbit).
(2) Roald Dahl - his books (especially Danny Champion of the World) and his poems.
(3) Benny Hill.
(4) "Midnite" by Randolf Stow. A little known but utterly BRILLIANT book!
(5) Jesus Christ. (The 'Man' - not the silly 'God' stuff! )
(6) Jack Vance.
(7) Narnia
( "The History of Western Philosophy" by Bertrand Russell. (Put in to show how Deep and Philosophical I am! )
(9) Life of Brian/Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
(10) Wuthering Heights....

Sorry, gotta go and read yet another Deep and Meanigful Book.... {{{hee hee "under the sign of Sanders.." how very droll... hee heee }}}

Halfwise did you get to like the Minoans from going on the Grand Tour? Did you go to Delphi too? I would dearly love to see Leptis Magna in Libia one day when the dust has settled, although they are Roman and not Greek ruins.

If you do go to Istanbul leave out the go-go bars or you could end up in Midnight Express territory. I went to Tunisia to see Carthage and hurled chunks on the ruins, I had eaten lamb stew but I think it was dog as I found a claw under a carrot. My brother had a similar reaction but from the other end, poor old ruins. 'Veni, Vidi, Pukie'.

Proof of the old adage that 'travel broadens the mind- put narrows the sphincter!'
