The Opening Montage Empty The Opening Montage

A look at the opening montage and how it gets certain things wrong. I never really thought about the opening montage much so it all kind of went over my head. Anyway, found it pretty interesting. I wonder if it's a copy of the Bakshi montage or is it just getting things wrong on its own.

Hm.. That article led to another about the most important misunderstandings that the LOTR movies have misled film-only audiences into believing. In it was the old complain about how the Witch King, in the book, is the only enemy of Gondor to ever enter under the gate of Minas Tirith. It bemoans the loss of Gandalf' and the Witch King's standoff, and the callous looting and killing that the orcs inflict upon the city in the movies.
Interesting stuff!

And now there was nothing but the roofs of houses, sweeping along like a great torrent of stones and rocks. Chimney-pots fell, and tiles flew from the roofs..."

Doesn't it include the standoff and then expand on it in the EE, with Gandalf losing. That's the complaint, anyway, that Witch-king schools Gandalf.

Poking oneself in the eye often seems like a better option than watching his movies Razz

I can count more ways than that!

If I use other people's fingers and toes after twenty, that is.

I'm sure Petty will lend all 23 of his extremities for such a cause! You might not want to use all of them for the purpose though...
