FAVORITE SAYINGS OR QUOTES - Page 2 Empty Re: FAVORITE SAYINGS OR QUOTES

The quote about german troops in front reminded me of this classic:

"I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotamy" - WC Fields.

But to me the most quotable person in history is Mark Twain, and so with this forum in mind:

"It's no wonder that truth is stranger than fiction; fiction has to make sense."

And oh hey, welcome Newmoon!

Newmoon seems to be an oddly sophisticated spammer (if that's what he/she is) since he/she posted more or less on-topic in the "What's on your desktop" thread. I didn't see the deleted post but we might as well wait and see if newmoon comes around again. I recall we had a false alarm spammer on the old forum who was quite surprised when GB started deleting his posts. Razz

They were on topic here too Eldo- they put a favourite quote (not Tolkien related more likethe sort of thing you might get on a twee embroidery) and proivided a link to an embroidery site selling stuff. Which is why I spamhammered them. Nod

I remember when spambots struggled to even string two words together. They're getting too smart these days. Mad

Oh this is BEAUTIFUL! Look at boys getting their tools out and smashing embroidery! Your application for joining the Dark Planet council has been received, keep this up and we might get around to looking at it. Nod

(Seriously though, spambots really are getting far too sneaky. Me no like! Evil or Very Mad )

I bet they are programmed with key words to pounce on, like the word thread, hence the embroidery spamathon. No

Save on tears Princessbee but a bit harsh for my liking. I'd prefer more empathy in the world, not less.

I agree with this one! I think it means don't give everything to someone if they won't give it back. Well, maybe not as extreme as that, but close enough! Shrugging

Blimey had to root about for this old thread!
Was reading a piece on the BBC about teenagers and parents- and how teengers tend to view their parents as embarrassing, stupid and silly and it had this quote I liked;

William Blake wrote: "When I was 14 my dad was so ignorant I wouldn't even walk down the street with him. By the time I was 21 it was amazing how much he'd learnt"!

Very Happy
