This fucking Harfoot meme. They like it because they think it serves as an envelope they can stuff non-"white" hobbits into, but the chronology is back-assward in their minds. They've put Harfoots in the SA, where they belong not, and then act as though they don't belong in the Third Age. What gives?

I wonder how many excited wannabe writers are sending scripts thru Sir Ian Mckellens door. Does he roll his eyes and think "oh God,no more !" Does he read who has been cajoled into playing a character thinking they will lure Sir Ian in but ---- it doesnt ?

I see they have added April fools to their headline. 
I thought that might be the case as it seemed to be both based on something from the books and with concern that it might not fit with the time line, and we all know such thoughts and ideas doesn't matter when making Tolkien series/movies/whatever these days.
