I like the narrators for that series. I wish the "exploring middle earth" series had hired an actor for narration.

eArendil sounds right. 4 syllables. GlOr-findel. 3 syllables, stress (?)on the first syllable. Quenya course on PT err DarkPlanet back in the days. Telleri rhymes with celery, I hate that fact and therefore can't forget about it...

I agree with Elthir on eaRENdil (okay, somewhat), but with Amarie on GLORfindel. No, Telleri should not rhyme with celery.

And it's amaRIe, not aMArie, though fat chance I have of convincing certain key players of that.

Though if it's GLORfindel it should be ELendil, not eLENdil. I can't stomach the first one. GLORfindel and eLENdil is proper no matter what anyone says. Rules be damned, I'll call'em as I see'em.

In my younger less grey days I said glOrfindel like that, and tellEri, but according to the stress rules (damn them or not), it should be glorfIndel and tElleri.

Me for one

It's muchly about the second to last syllable (the penult) in Quenya or Sindarin. Here the rule calls for amArie. The penult is short, so the stress moves to the left, like in lEgolas (not legOlas).

In The History of Middle-Earth the name has a long vowel: Amárie. I don't know why it appears with a short vowel in the 1977 Silmarillion (in my early editions at least).

Wait, explain the rule for 3-syllable Telleri going as TELleri while Glorfindel goes as glorFINdel.
