Those guys are from around my area Laughing Laughing That's one of the songs of our team, Rosenborg (RBK). Not the prettiest of them, and it doesn't really translate too well, but I'll give it a go:

Norwegian:

Å Rosenborg , å Rosenborg,
e 'Trondhjæms ' fotbaillag ',
Å Rosenborg , å Rosenborg,
tar seiern ' hjæm ' i dag,
vi reise ' oss på store stå
, når troillungan ' går på ,
for ingen banke' RBK,
å-hei-å-hei-å-hei-å-hå-å.

English:

Oh Rosenborg, oh Rosenborg,
is the team of Trondheim city!
Oh Rosenborg, oh Rosenborg,
takes the victory home today!
We rise to our feet
when the troublemakers go forth
'Cause nobody can beat RBK
Oh hey, oh hey, oh hey, oh o-oh!

It's on rhyme in Norwegian, though, and written and sung in dialect. And "Troillungan" doesn't really translate, it's a dialect word used by people around Trondheim, a name given to kids who only go about causing trouble and behaving badly (literally translated it means "Troll kid", but I'm not sure whether that would make any sense in English). Silly song, really, and it doesn't even make much sense in Norwegian, but we do think it sounds pretty when we're all lost in the world of buckie and enjoying the game Smile Hilarious vid, though Laughing

I mentioned Sapphire and Steel on an other thread, a program I havent thought baout in years and one of the oddest things ever on tv. Here's a 7minute documentry attempting to explain it- a lot of my sleepless nights in childhood were thanks to the weirdness of this (as well as a huge crush on Joanna Lumley!)

Some classic music from the Wickerman. Adult themes in a pagan sort of a way. If you think Rumplestiltskin is a fairytale metaphor too far don't listen!

Even just listening back to these conjures up the mood of the film, chills down my spine, so haunted, strange yet familar.

That's a great song, well done to British Gas for choosing such it for their ads! Though it got a bit annoying after a while. Nearly as annoying as that Virgin Media ad which played some version of Madness's Our House. I'd have preferred the original song! Or maybe House of fun!

Radiohead (which proably helped end Brit Pop Mad) also have a few pretty nifty songs. One of my favourites;

I'm a bit lukewarm on Radiohead I have to say but is this one of the better ones (like a lot of their songs I sometimes get the feeling they don't know where the end is!).

"No crabbit clouds tonight (please don't announce something stupid and ruin it for me PJ)."- Me. Very Happy

I'm going to have to stop saying stuff like this I woke up to a drag act as the Goblin King and another made up female Elf with a pretend Elvish name and then Elthir informs us that the elvish is all rubbish anyway and there's going to be more of it in TH depite there not being any in the book. So much for my appeal to PJ. Evil or Very Mad

Well I only have OK Computer and Kid A, both completely different albums, but I like both! I'm not a fanatical fan, but a fan nevertheless! The kind of stuff I've read with their more recent work is that they have been following the 'we know more about music than everyone else, so we're not catering for what the fans want' route' which can definitely be seen as annoying!

And as for PJ...I trust his judgement! Wink

I'm ignoring it Eldo on the basis that is an inherently nonsensical statement. The two concepts, PJ and Trustworthy, cannot be reconciled where Tolkien is concerned. The one cancels out the other.
And on reflection the same can be said for PJ and Judgement. For what judgement puts Legolas surfing a shield downstairs, or Frodo sending Sam home in the middle of Mordor. No judgement at all that is what.
Damn it! Turns it has made me crabbit after all.

A great band you've probably never heard of. The Delgados. A Scottish indie band from Motherwell. They were the soundtrack to a part of my youth when I lived in Glasgow and went to see them every chance I got. Drunk, laughing and Delgados, three things wound together in my memory of those days.
