I would like to read more, this has been really good & to find out more history about characters, events & places would be most welcome ! I think the Druid has a healthy balance between being ruthless & showing compassion. Shes got that "I can do things myself " attitude, yet I could imagine she'd accept help when all else failed. Its nice she doesnt blub every time she breaks a nail !!! I dont like weak, silly, fawning females. who blush & bat their eyeslashes. But you dont want the Druid to be TO butch ! I liked the story, I was happy to stick with it ! very well written, well done Petty ! :carrot: Cheerleader cheers

It's kind of weird not having having more to post- I had settled into a bit of a rythmn. And I had also forgotten how much I enjoyed being in the company of those characters. I'm going to miss editing their story, wish Id written more of it now. Mad

Depends what you mean by finished- that and the early draft of the first part of book 2 is all there is- but the complete first book is here. (assuming your talking Circle and not Hornblower/ST)

Havent finsihed it yet- and yes I know its taking a long time, Im quite annoyed about that myself, but it writes itself in its own time it seems, so I write other stuff inbetween whilst I wait on whatever mysterious set of mystical circumstances it is that is making it good when I do write more of it. Im too afraid to interfere in case it all falls apart.

I have the same problem... it's called laziness... Very Happy It's like this: "I need to rewrite 'Jack' in a form that doesn't bore people -- but there're butterflies outside... I shouldn't like to miss them! Oh no, no, no..."

{{ Been a long time since I visted this thread (or anyone else for that matter Laughing ). Thankyou again to all who read this. Ive been toying with properly editing it and stuff of late.
Anyhow to the point of this post, those who have read it will know it is based on a D&D campaign I wrote for friends. And I had long since thought I had lost the maps and prep work I did for the original games but whilst rooting about in the loft I came across them, slightly damaged from the damp up there but I thought Id share some bits and bobs, well maps. Sadly most of these are from later in the campaign and so are actually not in this Book but would be in book 2 if I ever write it up.

I enjoy the map making as DM but I do find they can be hard to translate from map to visual description, so I have a tendency when I am making them to make (very) hasty sketches in the margins, and very occasionally full page on the back to aid me in accuratly visualing the locations.
Anyway heres a selection. }}

Love Seltara drawing and the animal, its very evocative. Very Happy I don't know anything about D&D though. You must keep these Petty, put them in plastic folders to keep the damp off.

{{ I have in fact just done that very thing Figg, and Im keeping them out the loft before they get rotted away entriely. Mad

D&D is simple in essence, trickier in practice. As DM I make up a world, a story outline and all its characters. Players make up a character to play in that world then say what they want to do as the story goes along, like one of those choose your own adventure books that used to be popular in our youth, only a live version. And I adapt the story and setting according to what they are up to and they shape the direction and events by what they do.}}

{{ Ive been trying to decide should I re-edit this one properly, or do the more interesting thing of writing up book 2 of the tale and its conclusion. But then I realised its been so long Im going to have to read the first book, all 820 pages of it (not quite as bad as it sounds as its double spaced for easier onscreen reading), just to get my head back in that world and those characters again. So I am probably as well editing as I go anyway. And I hate editing  Mad This is why professional writers hire editors!}}
